Pergolesi |
The Pergolesi is a slightly smaller version of Consequence Audio’s flagship speaker Monteverdi and, unlike the latter, has the frequency crossover network integrated inside the main enclosure. The thus somewhat reduced enclosure dimensions cause a compromise merely in the extremely deep low bass range. Compared to the larger Monteverdi, the Pergolesi is less demanding with respect to the electronics and the setting: an excellent amplifier of 20 Watts/ channel (e.g., Satie S) and a 30-m2 room are fully sufficient. Together with their passive counterparts, the two lateral 190-mm carbon woofers achieve a lower cut- off frequency of 38 Hz. They are distinguished by rapid impulse compliance and offer superior performance in almost any listening room. The use of passive radiator membranes instead of bass reflex tubes is advantageous for the generation of very deep sound waves and also effectively prevents membrane overshooting at subsonic frequencies. Sound Cai Brockmann (image hifi 6/2004) dignified the „noble“ Pergolesi as „a heavenly messenger of music“: „Everything of the Pergolesi – up to the last screw – is first class. And once this jewel of a speaker strikes a potent amplifier, here we go with a sparkle of sound in splendid harmony! (…) It is a class of its own how effortlessly and clearly the Pergolesi reveals even the subtlest nuances of the upstream connected system without ever straying away a single inch from its own, basically unshakable character. (…) A very convincing performance. I rarely encounter speakers that are so uncritical with respect to setting and yet at the same time offer such an exquisite sound quality right from the first minute. Here, suitability for daily use, highest sense of quality, and the sheer pleasure of (acoustically produced) sound experience are wisely combined in an artistic manner.“ Sensitivity: 92 dB/2.83 V, 1 m |
